Stretchy Jeans Win: Naked & Famous Drop New Spring Lineup

In the wild and wacky world of denim, Naked & Famous’s Spring/Summer 2024 drop is the denim equivalent of discovering a double rainbow. Find out why we think one pair in particular is a real hit.

Story of the Day

It all kicked off in the Victorian era, a time when men were men, and their boots? Well, they were lace-heavy.

The year was 1851, and Queen Victoria's personal cobbler (fancy, right?), J. Sparkes-Hall had a lightbulb moment. Why should boots have those time-consuming laces that take your time away from eating crumpets and fighting duels when they could simply... not?

Enter the first Chelsea boots. Not a lace in sight. Just a stretchy side panel that made slipping them on a breeze. Was J S-H really just sick of tying knots? Who knows, but he sure changed the boot game forever.

These ankle-hugging beauties were not only practical but quickly became the height of fashion amongst the Victorian elite. Fast-forward to the Beatles striding onto the scene in the '60s, Chelseas (and literally the world) at their feet. The Fab Four catapulted the boot into the limelight, and just like that, the Chelsea boot became the symbol of ‘I-want-me-some-of-those’.

But what's in a name, you ask? "Chelsea" isn't just a posh area in London; it's a byword for style. A nod to the boot's birthplace during the cultural renaissance of the King's Road in the 1950s and '60s. The Chelsea boot became the go-to for artists, musicians, and those with a finger on the pulse of fashion. And the trend has kicked on to this day.

So the next time you slide into your Chelseas, saving precious lace-tying seconds, give a nod to old Sparkes-Hall. He may have known a thing or two.

In Case You Missed It…

Are you making any of these boot mistakes?

If you're interested in high quality men's boots, you've probably gone down the rabbit hole and done more research on leather, Goodyear welts, and outsoles than you ever thought possible.

Well, over the years, we've seen a lot of misconceptions about what makes a good boot (or what makes a bad boot).

In this video, William shares 7 mistakes he sees boot fans make all the time.
